The Hijab Journey: A Path of Love, Struggle, and Obedience
To every sister on her hijab journey — this is for you.
We don’t all start in the same place. Some of us grew up surrounded by hijab. Others discovered it later, slowly, quietly. For some, it came after a turning point, a hardship, a spark of change. And for others, it’s still something they’re building the courage to embrace.
Hijab is not just a scarf. It is an act of worship. A command from our Creator. A public statement of our submission to the One who gave us our beauty, our dignity, and our worth.
"O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused."
— Surah Al-Ahzab (33:59)
This ayah doesn’t speak of culture or opinion. It speaks of command. Hijab is not a symbol of oppression — it is a symbol of protection, identity, and obedience. It is about covering the body in a way that fulfils the clear conditions: loose, opaque, non-attractive, and worn sincerely for Allah ﷻ.
Yes, it’s hard. No one said it wouldn’t be. We live in a world that constantly tells women their worth is in how they look, how much they show, how closely they fit into trends. To wear hijab in this time is an act of courage — but more than that, it is an act of taqwa.
And to the sister who is struggling: we see you. Allah sees you. If you’re not where you want to be, keep turning to Him. Keep making duʿa. Take a step forward. Even a small one. But be honest with yourself. Romanticising the idea of hijab while rejecting its true form is not sincerity. If we love Allah, we obey Him — even when it’s difficult.
“Indeed, the reward is with the difficulty.”
— Surah Al-Inshirah (94:6)
And to the sister wearing it already — don’t stop renewing your intention. Don’t let the whispers of this world shake what you wear for the sake of the next. Hijab is not about perfection, it’s about direction. Keep moving toward Him.
At Himaya, we don’t just sell hijabs. We honour the journey behind them. May every piece you wear be a source of protection, strength, and reward — in this life and the next.
With sincerity,
A sister at Himaya
