Bismillah.
When I began the journey of creating this store, the name Himaya came to my heart almost instantly. Himaya—protection. And it felt so fitting, so intentional. Because to me, that is exactly what the hijab represents: a form of protection. But what does that really mean?
In Islam, hijab is far more than a piece of cloth. It’s an act of worship, a symbol of dignity, modesty, and identity. It’s a means through which we obey Allah, drawing closer to Him through submission and sincerity. The Qur’an tells us:
“O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.”
— Surah Al-Ahzab (33:59)
This ayah reminds us that hijab is a protection—not just physical, but spiritual and emotional. It protects our honour, our boundaries, and our sense of self in a world that often commodifies appearance. It frees us from being seen through a superficial lens, and instead allows us to be valued for our character, intellect, and faith.
Hijab is also a protection from the pressure to conform to fleeting beauty standards or societal expectations. It is a declaration that we are servants of Allah first—that our worth is defined by Him, not by public opinion.
So whether you’re just starting your hijab journey or have been on this path for years, I pray that Himaya serves as a source of strength, beauty, and intention for you.
With love and du‘a x
